Brandy "B" Markova's love for cake began at a young age. Her very first memory of baking was in the the kitchen of her grandmother's farmhouse,
watching attentively as “Mamaw” made her famous cherry pies on a vintage, formica countertop.
As her love for baking grew, so did her hunger for knowledge. She followed her heart to Chicago where she attended and graduated from the prestigious French Pastry School's "L'Art de la Pâtisserie" program.
Working as a pastry chef in the kitchen of New Orleans' most preeminent pâtisserie, B is trained in all manner of sweets, but found cake to be her passion.
Now, she brings her very own lively, bespoke designs to those looking for that certain je ne sais quoi.
Her whimsical designs have graced the pages of magazines, halls of museums, and have been enjoyed by a growing list of celebrity clientele including Missy Elliot, Trey Songz,
Chef Jérôme Bocuse, and Chef Thomas Keller of The French Laundry.
Inspiration behind her culinary creations come to her through music, historical European architecture, art, and the grocery store aisle. She says,
”I love picking up an ingredient not ordinarily found in pastry and wondering, ‘How can I translate this into cake?’”
Residing in the Appalachian mountain countryside with her cats, Omelet, Éclair, and Frankenstein, B is also a hobby potter, tap dancer, and roller skater
living every day by her motto that you deserve to have your cake and eat it too.
